Debate Rooms
Back to the Program Story Board In some locations, there will be an option for people to meet physically to discuss, and create comments and ideas. This is not mandatory. Simply, some people would prefer to meet face to face.
In Nairobi and Addis Ababa, arrangements are being made as described in the table below. In other locations where there are fewer participants, these can be arranged at the behest of the staff there on an ad hoc basis.

In these locations, one volunteer chairperson will convene three sets of discussions, each of 40 minutes each. Each discussion set will engage around one set of presentations (one program, i.e. overall program presentation + 2 scientists presentations). Three such presentations will consume 2 hours. For each discussion set, the following will happen
Participants will
- watch and listen to the presentation
- engage in conversation around 3 questions
Is this good science? (Important; robust; relevant; in demand) Does it help us reach ILRI goals? Are there any Ideas to leverage work with other programs for a bigger effect? (And for the science presentations: What big assumptions are being made that we need to interrogate more?)
- document any comments and ideas
- decide who will champion any proposed ideas, and delegate them to carry the idea process forward
The Facilitator will
- Make sure the room is ready for use (there is facility to listen to the presentation and document discussion)
- Facilitate conversation
- Arrange for documentation
- Post comments on line on the workshop virtual platform, or delegate this task to someone else in the room
